Student outfit – All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) – has approached M S University officials with an unusual demand. Less than ten days before MSU Students Union (MSUSU) polls, the student outfit has demanded that the university should postpone the elections.MSU has already notified that elections for the posts of general secretary, vice-president and faculty representatives will be held on August 22. But AIDSO on Monday submitted a memorandum to returning officer of MSUSU polls alleging that the university authorities’ approach to the elections is “undemocratic”.

AIDSO members said that as MSU has fixed August 14 as the last date of submitting nomination and August 17 as the last date of withdrawal of nomination forms, candidates in fray will hardly get time for campaigning.

“All the candidates in fray, will receive their numbers for campaigning only on August 17. With August 18 being a public holiday (Pateti), August 19 being a Sunday, candidates will be able to campaign only on August 20 as from August 21, the election code of conduct will be in place and candidates will not be able to campaign,” AIDSO’s Vadodara district committee president Renu Rajput said

The student outfit has also demanded that students should be allowed to file their candidature based on fee slips as some faculties are yet to issue identity cards or mark sheets to students.
