• State government reappoints Manoj Soni as Ambedkar University vice chancellor in Ahmedabad

    The state government has re-appointed Manoj Soni as the vice chancellor of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University. This is the second term of Soni as Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University Vice Chancellor.

    Soni, the controversial former vice-chancellor of MS University of Vadodara was appointed vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University. He had taken over from Dr Avdhesh Kumar Singh in 2009.

    Soni, who is an alumnus of MS University and teaches political science at SP University in Vallabh Vidyanagar, was seen as right-winged and was in the news almost throughout his three-year tenure in Vadodara in 2003-06. It is said that he used to be chief minister Narendra Modi’s speech writer.

    Soni was also the member of the governing body of Charotar University of Science and Technology Changa and was the founder Coordinator for Center for Excellence in Ethics in Politics and Public Administration, funded by the Government of Gujarat. He was also the member of the Justice R J Shah (Retd) Fee Regulatory Committee, Gujarat State, India.
