The reshuffling of admissions for medical and paramedical courses across Gujarat will be held after September 15. The admission process for 8,500 seats in these courses were held last month. The medical seats falling vacant under the all India quota will be handed over to the state in September. There are another 150 seats in Ayurveda colleges for which permission is awaited from the Central Council of Indian Medicine (Ayurveda). Sources say that there are chances of permission being granted on more than 150 seats.

Almost 125 seats fell vacant in the medical and paramedical streams as the students who had been granted admissions went on to get their admissions cancelled. Since the process of cancellation is still on, the authorities would wait till the month end for the final picture to emerge.

According to the Medical Council of India ( MCI) rules, admission to the medical courses cannot be given after September 30. The new schedule of admissions would be posted on the website of the joint admission committee for medical and paramedical courses and no letters would be sent to the applicants individually.

The cancellations done by admission committee till now include 12 cases for medical course, while the remaining are for dental and paramedical streams.
