“Unlike the past, we will accept nomination forms of even those candidates who pay their fees by August 14 – the last date of issuing nomination forms. Similarly, those students who pay their fees on or before August 17, will be eligible to cast their vote,” Shah told TOI.

It is worth mentioning here that it is for the first time in the history of the university that the student elections will be held with an incentive-based scheme for the faculty level and MSUSU level elections. On the lines of Gujarat government’s samras scheme for gram panchayats that opt for uncontested elections, MSU will also provide incentives ranging from Rs one lakh to Rs 50 lakh for development of faculties and union to student bodies if they opt for uncontested elections.

Along with MSUSU elections, many small faculties are expected to hold their faculty level elections for the post of faculty general secretaries (FGS) on August 22 itself.
