    The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, named after Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the former ruler of Baroda, is one of the premier universities of India and the largest university in the city of Baroda in Gujarat, India. It is popularly known as M.S.University (MSU). It is known throughout Asia for the Faculty of Arts & Fine Arts Journalism Faculty, for producing good engineers and managers and for research in the areas of Biochemistry, Microbiology & Biotechnology. Originally known as the Baroda College of Science (established 1881), it became a university in 1949 after the independence of the country. It is the only university in Gujarat whose medium of instruction is English for all its courses. The university’s alumni include Dr. B.R.Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, IG Patel, the former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Chimanbhai Patel, the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, and the cricketer Kiran More. 🙂

    Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University is a public university located at Patan, Gujrat, India. The geographical jurisdiction of the North Gujarat University encompasses four districts Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha and Sabarkantha. Each one of the four district has its own distinct heritage. Geographically a part of the whole area is towards the desert of Kutchh, while on the North Eastern side are rocky regions of forest populated by the tribal. The economy of the area is mainly agricultural. There are a few towns here and no big city. The rest of the population lives in villages. With a view to catering to the peculiar cultural and educational needs of the area, North Gujarat University was established by the Ordinance No. 5 of 1986 dated 17.5.1986 which was later passed as the North Gujarat University Act No.22 of 1986 on 11/9/86 by the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat. The University has been functioning since then and growing and expanding steadily.

    Saurashtra University was established on 23 May 1967 with the mission to provide an educational facelit to the economically downtrodden region of Saurashtra. It covers 7 major districts of Saurashtra region. At present, Saurashtra University has 154 affiliated colleges and 2 recognized institutions functioning under it. The University campus situated on the posh University Road locality in Rajkot is spread across approximately 500 acres (2.0 km2) of lush green land with almost all Departments connected with road. The University has 27 PG Departments. It has 3 modern PG hostels accommodating 225 students along with a huge central library. Almost all Departments have their own customized library. It has a common senate hall, a canteen, a medical check up center, staff quarters and an employment information and guidance bureau. The university has been awarded 4 star rating by the NAAC

    Sardar Patel University is a university in Gujarat state of India. It is named after independence leader Shree Sardar Vallabhai Patel. It was founded in 1955 by Shree Bhailalbhai D. Patel, known as Bhaikaka, and located in the new town of Vallabh Vidhyanagar in Anand District. The University has many affiliated colleges as listed below. Originally the university had the status of a rural University but now the university has diversified with the motto of “Excellence Matters”. The university has been accredited with the four star status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

    The South Gujarat University, located in the city of Surat, has been renamed and is now called as Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. The renaming of the university occurred during the year 2004. This name is in honour of the famous scholar and poet of Gujarat, Narmad. One of the most respectable and recognized departments in the university (with new building and huge advanced computer lab) is Masters of computer Application – Department. It ranks among top five MCA institutions in Gujarat. Incorporated in 1967, this university offers postgraduate courses in various disciplines. Besides, this university has non-traditional postgraduate departments such as public administration, rural studies, comparative literature and aquatic-biology.

    Bhavnagar University is a small university located in Bhavnagar city in the western province of Gujarat, India. Bhavnagar – a city where Mahatma Gandhi once studied – was the first princely state to merge with the Union of India at the time of independence in 1947. Bhavnagar University came into being in 1978. The university provides high quality of Teaching and Research Programs in Science, Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Medicine, Management, Rural Studies and Law Faculties. The University has at present 20 Departments and 4 Recognized Institutes and Research Centres. Colleges affiliated to university belong to Medical, Dental, Homeopathy,Engineering etc. disciplines. Twelve Post Graduate Courses are run by some of the Colleges which are affiliated to Bhavnagar University. A recent break through in field of optical science was achieved by scientist Rasbindu Mehta of Bhavnagar university is to trap light. This is first time somebody as done something like this. This research will pave way for developing optical computers in future.

    ‘Dharmsinh Desai University’ (DDU) is a State Level University for higher learning, situated in the city of Nadiad in Gujarat state in Western India. It was founded in 1968 by Dharmsinh Dadubhai Desai, who then was a Member of Parliament. The vice-chancellor of the university is Dr H.M.Desai, who is an expert in Sanskrit and a political figure in the Ahmedabad area.

    DDU imparts both bachelor and master level degrees in the fields of Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology and Civil Engineering. It was founded as a Chemical Engineering college and is still recognized as one of the premier colleges teaching chemical engineering. The university also offers BE integrated MBA program and Master of Computer Application (MCA).

    Suman Deep Vidyapith, Gujarat, owes its origin to Mansukhlal Shah, a visionary and philanthropic who is the founder chairman of K.M. Shah Charitable Trust (KMSCT). The Trust received its name from Shri Kanjibhai Manjibhai Shah, a businessman and father of the Chairman.     Gujarat Ayurved University Jamnagar is the only statutory University exclusively devoted to Ayurvedic Studies and Research. This University was established in 1966 by the Government of Gujarat. It has a spacious campus extending to 37 Acres. All the Ayurvedic colleges in the State are affiliated with this University. It has all the facilities for the studies for graduation, post graduation. and Ph.D. courses. It has separate departments for the subjects like Basic principles, Dravyagun, Rasashaashtra, and Bhaishajya Kalpanaa, Kaayaachikitsaa, Shalya, Shaalakya, Kaumarbhritya, etc. and also has various laboratories i.e. Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Modern Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy

    The Gujarat Vidyapith is a major university located in Ahmedabad, in the state of Gujarat in India. It was founded in 1920 by Mohandas Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement. “Vidyapith”, in many languages of India, means “University.”

    Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, also known as Gujrat Agricultural University is one of the prestigious State Agricultural Universities in India which was the headquarters of erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University. It is located at approximately 30 km from the Palanpur town in Banaskantha District of Gujarat.

    Junagadh Agricultural University is an agricultural university at Junagadh in the Indian state of Gujarat. Junagadh Agricultural University offers education in agriculture and allied sciences i.e., agriculture, agricultural engineering and fisheries. The teaching set up in the university consists of four faculties viz., agriculture, agricultural engineering, fisheries and post graduate studies. The graduate programmes have an intake capacity of 75 in agriculture, 50 in agricultural engineering and 30 in fisheries faculty. The post graduate level studies are also offered in agriculture and agricultural engineering according to the intake capacity of the various faculties. There are seven multidisciplinary Main Research Stations, five Main Research Stations for various crops and eleven sub Research Stations/Testing Centres in the university for the development of new varieties/hybrids of crops, vegetables and fruits. These centres also works for the development of economical and sustainable production technology packages for newly developed varieties/hybrids with its modification every year. The first hybrid bajra and hybrid castor were developed by scientists of this university.

Colleges : Agriculture, Agri Business Management, Horticulture and Forestry. The university has specialization in providing higher education specifally in the field of Agriculture, Forestry, Horticulture and Fisheries.     Anand Agricultural University (AAU) is a university located in the western Indian state of Gujarat between the cities of Vadodara and Ahmedabad. This was formerly the Anand Campus of Gujarat Agricultural University, which is now an independent university. This university has three constituent colleges one each for agriculture, veterinary science, and animal husbandry and dairy science. The jurisdiction of university are Kheda, Anand, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Dahod and Panchmahal districts. The university has well equipped IT facilities and a regional e-library.
