The search committee set up by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is likely to submit three names short-listed for the post of director to the institute’s board of governors on Saturday. The five-member search committee was formed to shortlist potential successors of present IIM-A director Samir Barua, whose tenure ends in November. Based on the recommendation of the selection committee, the board will send the names to the ministry of human resources development.

IIM-A had come up with advertisements in this regard and has also consulted all its stakeholders including faculty members and alumni. According to faculty members, the institute is looking for a strong international experience in the new director to place IIM-A in a better position globally.

In July, A M Naik, chairman of the board of governors at IIM-A, visited the campus to get views from faculty members on the new director. Naik had met about 35 faculty members personally, during which the most popular names that emerged were of Prof Ravindra Dholakia, Prof G Raghuram and Harvard University professor Srikant Datar.
