17 colleges ordered to appoint qualified teachers for PG courses by GU

After AICTE allows 17 colleges to run postgraduate courses, GTU orders them to appoint faculties with proper qualification by August 25 if they were really keen on offering the courses.

A high-level meeting of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) officials was called on Tuesday to discuss All India Council for Technical Education’s (AICTE) approval to 17 colleges to run postgraduate courses like MPharm, MTech, and ME. The committee has ordered these colleges to appoint faculties with requisite qualifications by August 25. In case these colleges fail to appoint faculties, they will not be allowed to offer PG courses in affiliation with GTU.  More »

Now, even candidates seeking a teacher’s jobin class I to VII will have to clear the Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET). The state education department has made this test mandatory for those teaching in primary schools from June 2011.

The education department recently issued a circular stating that all candidates applying for jobs in primary schools to teach in class I-VIII will have to appear for the TET and score minimum 60% marks in the test.
