7,500 professors waiting for Dec salary payment
The state government, which has been bandying about large investment figures following the vibrant summit, is yet to pay salary for the month of December to teachers of 450 grant-in-aid colleges. The delay has put these teachers, 7,500 in all, in a real bind as many of them have loans to repay and insurance payments to make. Some are even struggling to manage household expenses.
Principals of these colleges, who are also waiting for their remuneration, claim this is the longest delay to date. They have urged the higher education department to resolve the issue at the earliest. “Usually, salaries are paid on fifth or sixth of every month.
