PDPU students complete foreign internships

The first batch of students from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) has completed its international internship. A total of 94 students did their summer internships in four universities of USA – University of Houston, University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma and Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta.

The program had been designed with three weeks of training to provide exposure of state-of-art technology in the upstream sector. “The students got exposure to foreign institutes, making them more competitive. Field trips were also part of their programme. The students got a chance to explore possible research and development program in their area of interest,” said Rinkal Bagadia of the institute

PDPU signs MoU with American univ for exchange program

AHMEDABAD: The Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Oklahoma (OU),United States of America, on January 12. The MoU between the two universities is for faculty and student exchange programs and exchange of published information.

The OU consists of fifteen colleges, including 152 specialisations such as meteorology, geology, petroleum engineering and history of science.
The OU and PDPU plan to conduct joint research in the area of tight gas rock mechanics and petro-physics, shale gas and coil tubing application. The tie up also includes a summer course of 60 students at OU during summer 2010. The selected students will spend three weeks at OU in June 2010 and will be exposed to global petroleum technology and international environment.

With a mission to develop global professionals by providing international educational exchange to the university students and to create visibility of the PDPU. It has also established tie-ups with University of Tulsa, University of Houston and Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta all in the US.

The delegation from Oklahoma also discussed their interest in the research and technology field bagged by the idea of promoting international student exchange. As a result of these agreements, meaningful academic interaction and research output would take place in the days to come.

Petro university inks deal with US institute

A centre for excellence in energy will be set up by Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University(PDPU) in association with Georgia Institute of Technology (Gatech), Atlanta from the US.

On Saturday, PDPU, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) signed an MoU with Gatech for establishing the centre on the campus and carrying out faculty and student exchange programmes with the university.

Gatech is a technical university and has done research work in the areas of solar, nuclear, electricals and transportation.

PDPU is supported by GSPC to promote research with special focus on the oil and gas, solar and nuclear energy. Officials from Gatech visited the university and also met Chief Minister Narendra Modi to discuss their interest in research in oil and gas, solar, nuclear and wind power.

Petroleum University’s first convocation today!

The first convocation of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University will be held on Wednesday at its Raisan near Gandhinagar on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Highway Knowledge Corridor.

Former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will be the chief guest while Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be the guest of honour on the occasion. The varsity’s board of governor and chairman Mukesh Ambani will also grace the function.

While 120 students will be awarded petroleum management degree, six students will be given medal for their scholastic performance’ in various programmes.

The petroleum university has three schools — School of Petroleum Management, School of Petroleum Technology and School of Solar Energy and offers BTech, MTech, MBA, PhD and Management Programmes for working executives of petroleum sector.

In addition to the regular educational programmes, the university has also taken up initiatives for establishing a Centre for Good Governance & Policy and Centre for Energy & Fuel Studies.
