Commonwealth Express to showcase relevance of IT in Gandhinagar

The Commonwealth Express (CW Express), a special exhibition train designed to promote the mega event that will take place in Delhi, will be on the Gandhinagar railway station in Gujarat on September 14 and 15, 2010.

The train contains 14 coaches, of which six coaches are devoted to telling the success story of information technology (IT) in India. Five other coaches provide a curtain raiser for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The contribution of Indian Railways to the sports and a list of railway sportspersons who have won Arjuna awards, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awards, Dronacharya award, Padmashree and Dhyanchand awards have been displayed in a separate coach in the train. 350 more seats in engg colleges in gujarat

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Wednesday announced 350 more seats in  engineering colleges in the state. Also, the committee did not give its nod for engineering colleges under Public Private Partnership schemes. Clinical research boom in Gujarat spikes demand for trained personnel

With the clinical research industry in the state registering a robust growth in the last two-three years, clinical research students in the Gujarat have a reason to cheer.

The Institute of Clinical Research (India) Ahmedabad campus has been able to place 78 students of 2007-09 batch within the state this time. Only 16 of the 92 new institutes seeking affiliation with Gujarat University qualify to launch their courses as per the new rules issued by University Grant Commission (UGC). GCET going well on day 1!

Gujarat Common Entrance Tests (GCET) began on Monday. Around 23,000 students have registered for the tests that pave the way for admission to MBA or MCA courses in colleges across the state.

The students who appeared for the exam on day one found the exam easy but time consuming. Mathematics was tough for most.

Unlike last year, where there were reports of power failure in several centres, on Monday only one such case was reported from a Surat centre. However, the power was restored shortly. More »
