A group of Gujarat University students has carried out a survey to determine how many of their peers understand the significance of rituals and festivals in the state.
The surveyors focused on the age-old religious festival of Sitala Satam, which is usually celebrated in Gujarat a day before Janmasthami. This year, the festival falls on Thursday. On this day, food cooked on the previous is consumed and no activity takes place in the kitchen. More »

Sanskrit teachers of Gujarat University have joined Samskrita Bharati’s mission to bring the historical Indo-Aryan language back to the mainstream by promoting it on the internet. Sanskrit Wikipedia in collaboration with Samskrita Bharati, a not for profit organisation, started sa.wikipedia.org in 2003. Today it has over five thousand articles in Sanskrit.

New system: GU gives details of BSc exams
The Gujarat University (GU) has declared detailed information about BSc exams which will be conducted by the university following implementation of the Choice-Based Credit System(CBCS).
According to GU vice-chancellor Parimal Trivedi, as per the new examination system to be followed, the internal 30 marks which used to be calculated solely on the basis of the college exams has been divided into four parts. More »
