Japan delegation meets Modi, plans Rs 5000-crore eco-township in Dahej,Gujarat

A high-level delegation from JapanĀ  called on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and made a proposal to set up a Rs 5,000-crore eco-township at Dahej.

The nine-member delegation, led by Chairman of Japan Development Institute Dr Shoichi Kobayashi, has proposed to set up an eco township modeled on Kitakyushu township in Japan in Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) area here and another township GRMAZ at Dahej, said a government release. Japanese govt commits Rs 130 cr for DMIC

After a yawning gap, the multi-crore Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) got a fresh impetus on Tuesday when the Japanese government committed Rs 130 crore as engineering services loan (ESL) for the dedicated freight corridor project’s crucial phase I. 30+ countries to participate in Vibrant Gujarat Summit

Vibrant Gujarat Summit
Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2009 is going truly global this time around with delegations from about 30 countries likely to participate in the event. With Japan as an international partner to the event, the state is likely considerable investments in Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) region.

While Uganda, Canada, Italy, Korea and Russia have shown interest in sending officials from the ministry level along with business delegation to the event, the state is in process of getting government participation from more countries. More »
