NID invited for Cannes contest!

NID-logoNational Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad has been selected to compete for World Photography Award whose results will be declared

at Cannes festival in France in April 2010. Participation in this competition is only through invitation. The organizing committee extended invitation to 120 institutes across the world.

Building on the success of the 2008 and 2009 competitions, the organizers have invited students and photography institutions across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.

The theme of the competition is War and Peace’. “Students have been asked to submit their work online. Two shortlisted students from one institution on each continent will then be selected by a panel of judges chosen from World Photographic Academy.

The twelve shortlisted students, along with their tutors, will be invited to Cannes in April 2010, where as part of World Photography Festival, finalists will conduct their final assignment,” said Deepak Mathew, co-ordinator of photography department at NID.

An exhibition of photographs selected from student submissions from all 120 participating institutions will also be held.
