GU library set to go online!
The Gujarat University (GU) is all set to digitalise some rare books in its library. Sources said that some books at the GU library are more than 100 years old and are not accessible to students.
These will be digitalised to allow the students to use them as reference material for research work. Digital copies of these more than 200 rare books will be uploaded on GU’s website.
GU sources said that the Rs 5-lakh project will be completed within six months. “Often it was seen that students tore off pages from these rare books to be used for reference. This damaged many books which have been out of print for many years now. Digitalisation of these valuable books will go a long way in expanding our resources and helping all students to get a fair chance,” said GU officials.
