Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India launches new PG diploma course

Focusing specially on social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibilities, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) has announced a new postgraduate diploma in management for the development sector. The course has got approval from All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The first batch of the course will commence with 60 participants. “The course curriculum has been designed in such a manner that it will facilitate students to play the role of a manager, a trainer, a consultant in NGO. Students will also be trained to set up their own NGOs. For those students who want to gain further experience of the industry, the institute will offer placement services,” said the director of EDI, Dinesh Avasthi.

In the recent approvals given by AICTE, the institute also received an expansion permission for its flagship programme, postgraduate diploma in management business entrepreneurship. The intake capacity of the course has been increased from 60 to 120. The course has been designed for aspiring businessmen or people with family business. The objective is to promote entrepreneurship as a career option.

The programme offers dual specialisation in entrepreneurship areas of new enterprise creation, family business management, services management, agri-entrepreneurship, tourism entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education.

“Our teaching methods include action learning, business games, computer simulation, live projects, role plays, case-based teachings and field work and class-room teaching. “We have 35 permanent faculty members and with the new course commencing soon, we have six more faculty joining us,” said Sunil Shukla, chief faculty of EDI.

Graduates in any discipline are eligible to apply for the course. Scores of CAT, MAT and XAT examinations are also accepted.

    I am a senior civil servant serving in the Government of Kenya in a Government Ministry charged with the responsibility of improving entrepreneurial skills among the poor and nomadic communities in Northern Kenya.
