Don’t like your GCET score? Take a second chance
For all wannabe MBAs and MCAs, here is some good news. If you do not perform well in the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET), there is no need to worry. From 2010, you will get a second chance. A proposal in this regard has been prepared by authorities of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) that governs all MCA and MBA institutes in Gujarat.
It will be tabled at GTU’s board meeting scheduled to take place soon, said sources. Best of two that is how one can describe this new system being evolved. MN Patel, acting V-C of GTU, said, “In 2010, GCET exams are likely to incorporate these important changes. The decision has been taken to help students upgrade their performance.”
GTU has received an award from Central government for conducting online exams of MBA and MCA students successfully. In June 2009, 22,000 students appeared for online GCET exams for the first time.
Gujarat has 103 MBA institutes with nearly 6,000 seats and 53 institutes of MCA with 5,000 seats. In 2010 though, GCET applicants will be able to appear for entrance exam twice, within the span of a week.
The best percentage acquired in any of these two exams will be taken into consideration while giving admissions to colleges. Usually, students are given marks immediately after exam. From next year, students will also get their corrected answersheets.
Not only this, GTU proposes to extend more support to students. A list of 4,000 questions prepared for GCET exams of 2009 will be provided to students in a CD. It will also be uploaded on GTU website. This is aimed at helping students understand the online exam format and prepare better by gauging different difficulty levels of questions.
