Mahindra to invest Rs 3,000 cr: Vibrant Gujarat 2011

Farm equipment-to-software group Mahindra & Mahindra on Wednesday said it will invest Rs 3000 crore in Gujarat to step up presence in the hospitality and real estate sectors in the state.  “Our group companies have signed six MoUs with the Gujarat government totaling an investment of Rs 3000 crore,” Mahindra & Mahindra Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra said here at the 5th Global Summit of Vibrant Gujarat. He, however, did not specify the time frame for these investments.

Mahindra Lifespaces , the real estate development arm of USD 7.1 billion Mahindra Group , has signed two MoUs with the state government. “Mahindra World City is developing a real estate project spread across 500 acres of land,” he said.

Another group company, Mahindra Holiday & Resorts , that runs the Club Mahindra resorts, will open seven new resorts in the state, Mahindra said, adding “all these new projects will create a lot of new jobs”. Moreover, investments will also be made on solid waste management and domestic waste management projects, he added.

Acknowledging that the investment by M&M is much less compared to those announced by other corporates during the summit here, Mahindra said “but we are doing it with passion”. “Mr Modi I hope you are not angry now as you have been saying that we do not make investments in the state,” he quipped.

Anil Ambani’s Reliance commits Rs 50,000 crore investment in Gujarat

Anil Ambani today said his Reliance Group will invest Rs 50,000 crore in Gujarat in the next 5—7 years on various projects as the firm looks to tap opportunities in the state. “We are committing to invest Rs 50,000 crore in the state of Gujarat in gas—based and coal—based power projects in the next 5—7 years”, Ambani said while speaking at the 5th Global Summit of Vibrant Gujarat here.

He said the investments would include very large investments in the cement sector in areas like Kutch, Porbandar and Junagadh. Already the group firm Reliance Power has undertaken development activities at Bharuch in Gujarat, where it is setting up a gas—based 8,000 MW power plant.

“I want to say that the group will play a meaningful role in driving the change and transformation happening in Gujarat,” he added.

Essar commits Rs 30,000 cr for Gujarat

Diversified conglomerate Essar Group said it will invest Rs 30,000 crore in Gujarat for projects in various sectors, including power and refinery. “Essar has committed to invest in Gujarat Rs 30,000 crore in power, refinery, ports and water infrastructure,” Essar Group Chief Executive Prashant Ruia said here during the 5th Global Summit of Vibrant Gujarat.

He, however, did not specify the timeline for the investments but said the earlier investments committed by the group in the state have been executed.

Essar Group is a major player in the port sector in Gujarat. Its ports and terminals business operates a crude oil and petroleum products terminal at Vadinar in the state.

The group is also constructing a dry bulk port at Hazira and a coal jetty at Salaya, all in the state.

It also has a 14 MTPA petroleum refinery at Vadinar which started commercial production on May 1, 2008.

Vibrant Gujarat 2011: Adani group announces Rs 80,000 cr investment

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani today announced Rs 80,000 crore investment in ports, power sector and infrastructure in Gujarat at the fifth edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011 (VGS) here.  He, however, did not specify the timeline for the investments.  “On the occasion of VGS we announce an investment of more than Rs 80,000 crore in port, power generation and infrastructure in Gujarat,” Adani said, while speaking at VGS. Tata AutoComp Systems(TACO) to set up five factories at Sanand

Tata AutoComp Systems (TACO) is setting up five auto component manufacturing plants at Sanand in Gujarat at an investment of Rs 300 crore, a state industry department official said on Tuesday.

“TACO is investing around Rs 300 crore to open five plants at Sanand in Gujarat in current financial year. These five new factories are part of the vendor park coming up at the Tata Nano plant site,” the official said.

TACO is amongst the largest automotive components groups in India, having revenues in excess of Rs 3,500 crore.

Banas Dairy to set up country’s second 100 MT skimmed milk powder plant

DOCOMO launch delayed in Gujarat!

tata-docomo-gsmTata Teleservices Ltd’s DOCOMO will take a little more time than scheduled for its launch in Gujarat.

“The spectrum allocated to us has not been released by government agencies. Hence, we are not able to launch the services in the state. We had earlier planned to launch DOCOMO by December 15,” said Naveen Bhasin, chief operating officer, COO of TTL Gujarat. “TTL has its share of spectrum, but it has to be cleared by local authorities too and such procedures take time,” Bhasin explained.

Asked about the next possible launch date, Bhasin said the company is now planning to do so by January end. TTL is very excited about Gujarat market and is hoping to get maximum incremental market share from here.

Apollo Tyres opens Rs 200 crore OTR facility in Limda Gujarat

apollo_tyreApollo Tyres Limited on Sunday launched their new production lines in passenger and truck-bus radial tyres and opened a manufacturing facility for extra-large off-the-road (OTR) tyres at its Limda plant here. Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the works.

“Our investment at Limda plant, that was set up in 1991, has crossed Rs 2,000 crore investment with this new facility,” chairman of Apollo Tyres Limited Onkar S Kanwar told mediapersons. The Limda plant is Apollo’s flagship and largest unit, where the company recently enhanced its passenger radial production capacity from 90,000 tyres a month to 4.50 lakh tyres. More »

Modi invites Maruti to set up plant in Gujarat

MSU social work faculty signs first int’l MoU

In its first international pact, the faculty will collaborate for an exchange programme with Huddersfield University (HU).
