NHL, BJ Medical to launch PG course in emergency medicine
The Ahmedabad Medical Education Trust (AMC-MET)-run NHL Medical College and B J Medical College will be introducing MD in Emergency Medicine from this year onwards.
The health and family welfare department has allotted four seats for the three-year course. Of these two will be in NHL Medical College and two in B J Medical College. More »
Gujarat University offers three new courses
Gujarat University has introduced three certificate courses in crime investigation. These are Criminology and Forensics, Documentation and Handwriting Investigation and Fingerprint and Impression Investigation.
The courses will be of six-month duration and will have 40 seats each. Those with minimum 45 per cent marks in graduation are eligible to apply. Each course will have two exam papers.

Rajkot engg college Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science can’t admit students
The state education department has issued a ‘no admission’ notice for an engineering college in Rajkot. The notice was sent to the Joint Admission Committee for Professional Courses (JACPC) late on Friday. This will create a problem ahead of admission to engineering courses as the Sarvoday Kelavani Samaj (SKS)-run Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science has 480 seats.
This is not the first time that SKS, a prestigious educational trust in Saurashtra, has been mired in a controversy. In February, the Rajkot collector took over the educational trust for breach in its trust deed. Sources said, “The trust was given a plot on Kalawad road for religious purpose. Today, however, the plot houses the Vidya Vihar High School, School of Science, Virani Art, Science and Computer Science College and AITS.” More »

B Sc admissions in Gujarat begin on May 21
With the Class 12 results set to be declared on May 20, the admission process of Gujarat University-affiliated science colleges with the Bachelors of Science course will begin from May 21. M G Science Institute, St Xavier’s College and C U Shah College will have admissions based on merit, while rest of the colleges in the city will have admissions on a first-come-first-served basis. PDPU signs MoU with American univ for exchange program
AHMEDABAD: The Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Oklahoma (OU),United States of America, on January 12. The MoU between the two universities is for faculty and student exchange programs and exchange of published information.
The OU consists of fifteen colleges, including 152 specialisations such as meteorology, geology, petroleum engineering and history of science.

Self-finance institutes await Gujarat University nod for another fee hike
The fee hike issue taken up by self-financed institutes is yet to be resolved. Several self-financed institutes had asked the Gujarat University (GU) to permit them to increase the fee charged by them. But, the GU wanted these institutes to put forth reasons for hiking the fees. However, even after six months the institutes have failed to respond to queries put up by GU authorities.
These are self-financed institutes offering Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Bachelor of Commerce (Bcom) affiliated to GU.

Ahmedabad University collaborates with UK b-school
The recently-instituted Ahmedabad University has entered into collaboration with Judge Business School, Cambridge University (UK) to develop an in-house executive MBA program targeted at owner-managed industries.
Cambridge University is ranked the second-best university in the world. The programme, to be jointly designed by faculty of both universities, will also feature a short stint for students at Cambridge, with some faculty of the Ahmedabad University also slated to be trained there. The agreement will facilitate long-term access to course material and faculty training.

MICA announces certificate course for working professionals!
City-based, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) has announced a one-year certificate programme in research and analytic for working professionals.
Classes for the programme will be held twice a week through video conference. The course is designed for junior and middle level executives in the data analytic industry. The last date for submitting application forms is December 5.
