Placement fair gets off to top start at DA-IICT

The placement fair at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information & Communication Technology (DA-IICT) in Gandhinagar began only 10 days ago, but students are already in a mood to celebrate.

The reason: 25 per cent of students of the batch that will graduate next year have secured jobs. Moreover, this year’s top offer is almost double than last year’s best. In 2009, Rs 7.5 lakh was the highest salary per year offered to students. This time, the figure stands at Rs 14 lakh.

Clinical research boom in Gujarat spikes demand for trained personnel

With the clinical research industry in the state registering a robust growth in the last two-three years, clinical research students in the Gujarat have a reason to cheer.

The Institute of Clinical Research (India) Ahmedabad campus has been able to place 78 students of 2007-09 batch within the state this time. GCET going well on day 1!

Gujarat Common Entrance Tests (GCET) began on Monday. Around 23,000 students have registered for the tests that pave the way for admission to MBA or MCA courses in colleges across the state.

The students who appeared for the exam on day one found the exam easy but time consuming. Mathematics was tough for most.

Unlike last year, where there were reports of power failure in several centres, on Monday only one such case was reported from a Surat centre. However, the power was restored shortly. More »

B Com first merit list of Gujarat University cut-off up by 5 pc from last year’s

The second and the third merit lists will be announced on June 15 and June 18 respectively. With the first merit list of the BCom course out on Friday evening, the city commerce colleges witnessed huge rush of the students and their parents. As many as 65 commerce colleges in the state affiliated to Gujarat University have received 1,25,000 forms filled between June 5 and June 9 by the students. More »

GCET exam centres on first come first served basis

Tuesday is the last day to register for the test for admission to MBA, MCA courses

Centres for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test will be allotted on first come first served basis to whoever has applied for it. Around 23,000 students had registered for the test by Monday to join the MBA or MCA courses.

BBA, BCA admissions enter final phase in Gujarat!

The final phase of admission process for BBA and BCA courses will begin this week. The Gujarat University (GU) will start the ‘counselling’ procedure, wherein students will be asked to decide which college they want to join, on Friday.

According to GU officials, 5,232 class XII pass-outs have applied for admission to BBA, while 5,184 want to study BCA. There are 1,200 seats in BBA colleges and 1,500 in BCA. This year, NRI and management quotas have been scrapped.

The counselling exercise, which will take place at GU’s IAS Centre, will be wrapped up in eight days.
