MICA Go Common Admission Test (CAT) scores for admission
Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA) will, once again, accept Common Admission Test (CAT) scores for admission to its flagship course this year. The institute had abandoned the CAT test from its admission process in 2010 and 2011 to use its own written test – ‘MICA test’ (MICAT).
The admission for 2012-14 batch of post-graduate programme diploma in management (communications) PGDM(C) will adopt a three step process of CAT, MICAT, and group exercise (GE) and personal interview (PI). More »

17 colleges ordered to appoint qualified teachers for PG courses by GU
After AICTE allows 17 colleges to run postgraduate courses, GTU orders them to appoint faculties with proper qualification by August 25 if they were really keen on offering the courses.
A high-level meeting of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) officials was called on Tuesday to discuss All India Council for Technical Education’s (AICTE) approval to 17 colleges to run postgraduate courses like MPharm, MTech, and ME. The committee has ordered these colleges to appoint faculties with requisite qualifications by August 25. In case these colleges fail to appoint faculties, they will not be allowed to offer PG courses in affiliation with GTU. More »

Highest so far, 24 Gujarati students join IIT-G
The Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-G) has given admission to 24 Gujarati students this year. This is the highest number of local students joining the institute ever since its inception four years back.
IIT-G director Sudhir Jain said that 116 students joined the institute in 2011. “This is the highest number of Gujarati students joining IIT-G in one year. In the last three years, total 55 Gujarati students had become part of the institution,” Jain said. Of the 24 students, 20 are boys while four are girls. Interestingly, there are also a number of Gujarati students who have decided to come back to their roots when they chose to opt for IIT-G over other IITs. The families of such students are settled outside Gujarat for generations now, but they chose to study at IIT-G as they consider it a fast developing and safe state. More »
Infosys Founder Narayana Murthy graces first AU convocation
Addressing the students of Ahmedabad University (AU), chairman and chief mentor of Infosys N R Narayana Murthy said that the development in the country is disproportionate. Murthy urged the graduating students to shoulder the responsibility of bringing an inclusive and equitable change in the country.
Murthy was the chief guest at the first convocation of Ahmedabad University, which was held at its campus on Monday. The event conferred degrees to the university’s first batch of 110 MBA and 8 BBA students that graduated this year. More »
4,600 to take entrance test for SPIPA
With more and more students seeking a spot in the civil services in Gujarat, this year a record 4,600 students will take an entrance test on Sunday for Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), a coaching institute for civil services examination.
SPIPA has been coaching aspirants for civil services exams since 1972. “This year the number of aspirants for the 72 seats was the highest compared to past years. Gujarati youths have become more aware about the career options in the civil services and so there has been an increase in the number of students taking the entrance exam every year,” said J M Acharya, joint director SPIPA. GTU council wins international award
The initiative of bringing engineering students in Gujarat face-to-face with the real-life issues of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has gained recognition at the ‘World Education Summit 2011′.
The initiative called ‘GTU Innovation Council’ started jointly by Gujarat Technological University and Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (Sristi) has been given ‘Best Jury Award for Interface Between Academia and Industry in Higher Education’ at the summit held at New Delhi from July 13 to 15. GTU (Gujarat Technological University) degree to diploma forms released
As per the announcement made by the Gujarat Technical University (GTU) the Forms for diploma to degree courses are now available. The forms are to be accepted till July 7.
There are more than 8,999 seats in diploma to degree courses in Gujarat. From this year, the students of BSc in Maths are also now eligible to apply for degree engineering cources. While in last year there were 10% seats reserved for this, this year 20% seats are reserved which is double.

15-40% hike in fee for professional courses in Degree/Diploma/BE/B.Pharm/MCA/MBA
Dreaming of a career in engineering, MBA or MCA? Get ready to pay more. The fee regulatory committee for professional colleges on Tuesday declared the new fee structure for 429 professional colleges. The hike of fees is in range of 15-40%.
The committee has also declared the fee structure for the next three academic years. This will be applicable in self-financed colleges providing degree and diploma courses in engineering and pharmacy; master’s degrees in business administration, computer applications, engineering, pharmacy; and bachelor’s degrees in architecture and hotel and tourism management. GTU & Gujarat Goverment Portal site are down!
From today morning both websites GTU ( www.gtu.ac.in ) and Gujarat Goverment Portal (www.portal.gujarat.gov.in) are down due to some reason. GTU is leading technical university in Gujarat who handle all work of technication cources like MCA, MBA, BE/ Diploma.
Due to this all admission work has been suffered. Not able to understand how can such important website can be down.
Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) merit list to be declared on July 8
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will declare the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) merit list on July 8, six days after the second and final phase of the GCET examination gets over, confirmed Dr GP Vadodaria, GTU’s controller of examinations. The test is being conducted in two phases. The first phase was held from June 25 to 28 and the second phase began on June 29 and will end on July 2. More »
GU launches probe into admission irregularities
At least 10 commerce colleges affiliated with Gujarat University (GU) could be in trouble as the GU has initiated a probe into admissions granted recently by these colleges.
The GU began the probe after receiving complaints that students with more than 65 to 70% marks are yet to get admission into any of these colleges. Several students’ unions made their representations before the GU vice-chancellor in the syndicate meeting on Sunday.
Admission process in more than 50 commerce colleges affiliated with the GU had recently concluded. These colleges have the capacity to admit a total of 26,000 students. Despite this, around 7,000 students are still waiting to get admission. Most of these students have more than 70% marks. More »

Admission queries centralized at MSU Baroda
There is some good news for thousands of students and their parents who usually run from pillar to post seeking information during admission season. M S University (MSU) has finally woken up to the demand of the day. Starting from Wednesday, all information related to admission in major faculties of the university will be made available at a centralized window at the university head office.
Setting up a single window system for admissions is a long-pending demand. In fact, three vice-chancellors (VCs) had promised to make such a facility available but they never implemented it during their tenure. More »

IIT-Gn( Gandhinagar) to launch new PG courses
IIT Gandhinagar (IITGn) is one among the new IITs started from the academic year 2008-09. It is located at Chandkheda, about 15 minutes drive from both Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Engg colleges may increase fee during mid-term
The fee charged by nearly 450 self-financed engineering, pharmacy, MBA and MCA colleges in the state is expected to increase by 30-50 per cent from the new academic session. But when exactly is the big question.
The HSC science results will be declared on May 12, while the first merit list for engineering and pharmacy courses will be put up on June 21.
However, the fee regulatory committee (FRC) has not yet begun checking the audit account reports of the colleges, required to decide on the fee hike. The delay in this process means the colleges will be able to revise their fee structure only after the admission procedure gets

AICTE raises merit criteria for engineering & pharmacy
The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) in its approval process handbook 2011-12 released online has said that minimum qualification for admission to engineering and pharmacy colleges will be 50 per cent marks. So if you are a class XII (Science) student , you need to score 50 percnet to to apply in engineering or pharmacy colleges. More »
GCET: GCET to take place in June
- GTU had earlier announced that the exam will take place in Feb
- GCET-2011 will be held in June instead of February as announced earlier.
- The institute heads were of the opinion that the GCET-2011 should be held in June as per the earlier schedule because the colleges had already fixed the schedules for other exams to be held in February
