Austrelia vs India cricket match today in Baroda!
Security arrangement during India-Australia ODI will be top priority for Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) management this time around.
For, it would be playing host to one of the most important personalities of the state. Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the ODI that will be played on October 25 at Reliance Stadium.
The association had sent a special invitation to Modi. Senior BCA officials told TOI that chief minister’s office has accepted the invitation. State home minister Amit Shah will also join Modi. This is the first international cricket match in the state after Modi took over as Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) president.
“As a protocol, we always send invitation to GCA top management. However, this time we specially invited Modi to see the match. We have got a positive reply from the CMO. However, we will get details at a later stage,” said a senior BCA official.
“Modi is interested in cricket and hence, he accepted our invitation. We have already begun preparations for his visit,” BCA vice-president Sanjay Patel said.
The BCA management is bit anxious about the security arrangements as Modi has Z plus security. District collector Vijay Nehra visited Reliance Stadium on Thursday evening along with police officials to review the security situation. Modi will land at Harni airport on Sunday morning and then travel to Reliance Stadium. Security of the players is always a big concern for any cricketing association and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already asked all the associations to upgrade security for cricketers. “With Modi’s office giving a positive nod, we will now have to give special attention to his security. It will take up most of our time as we will have to take care of cricketers too,” a BCA official said.
