400 seats likely to increase in MEd colleges in Gujarat
A total of 400 seats in MEd colleges in the state are expected to increase as National Council for Teachers’ Education (NCTE) has ordered an increase of 35 seats in every MEd college from earlier 25 seats.
The development comes as a heart-warming news for those who could not secure admission into MEd colleges during recently concluded admission process, as there will be another round of admission after the increase in seats.
The decision was taken to meet the scarcity of teachers in BEd colleges across the country including, Gujarat. After this development, about 70 MEd colleges in the state will add 400 more seats. At present, the existing number of MEd seats in the state is 1,700.
Of 320 BEd colleges, in which more than 32,000 students are studying, there is an acute shortage of teaching staff.
” NCTE has written to every MEd college in the state to conduct admission on the increased seats on immediate basis, so that meritorious students, especially those from rural parts of the state can get the maximum benefit of it,” said university syndicate member Manish Doshi.
