30 grace mark for Hindi-medium students of 11th Science

  • About 4,000 students will be benefitted if GSHSEB considers application pointing to the translation errors in chemistry paper

The decision to give grace marks to Gujarati and English medium students in chemistry landed Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) once again in the same situation after a demand to grant grace marks to Hindi medium students was raised.

The board received an application pointing to translation errors in 30 marks’ questions in chemistry.

It was brought to the board’s notice that the Hindi medium paper creates confusion due to shoddy translation when compared with Gujarati-and English-medium papers. About 4,000 Hindi-medium students can get the benefit if the board agrees for the grace marks.

Board official R R Varsani said that it will review the paper and no injustice will be done to any student. More »

NID student Get back documents from Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science (AITS) Rajkot college

The Gujarat Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (GCDRC), found Rajkot-based Atmiya Institute of Technology and Science (AITS) guilty of unfair trade practice after the college refused to return the certificates and refund the fees of Peter Alwin.

AITS has been ordered to refund Rs 15,000, the fees for second semester, and caution money of Rs 2,000. The college will also have to compensate Peter with Rs 7,000 for the mental harassment caused and Rs 3,000 towards legal cost.

Peter Alwin, 26, a graduate from National Institute of Design (NID) had taken admission to AITS in October 2004.  More »
