One more IT SEZ withdrawn from Gujarat Vadodara
Citing environmental hazards, Strength Real Estate Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) floated by Mumbai-based K Raheja Corp, has withdrawn the formal approval granted for an IT/ITeS special economic zone (SEZ) at Vemali near Vadodara in Gujarat.
Spread across an area of 13.74 hectares, the IT SEZ was supposed to come up on the banks of the river Vishwamitri. However, environmental hazards prevented the SPV from moving further. “Any construction work on that site would have deteriorated the situation,” said a source close to the development. More »
LikeGESIA set to expand operations in Gujarat
Having already attracted over 250 IT companies from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, the Gujarat Electronics & Software Industries Association (GESIA) now intends to expand its operations in the state.
According to Jaimin Shah, the newly elected president of GESIA and founder director, Dev Information Technology Pvt. Ltd., the association intends to begin operations in other cities like Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot. More »

LikeCommonwealth Express to showcase relevance of IT in Gandhinagar
The Commonwealth Express (CW Express), a special exhibition train designed to promote the mega event that will take place in Delhi, will be on the Gandhinagar railway station in Gujarat on September 14 and 15, 2010.
The train contains 14 coaches, of which six coaches are devoted to telling the success story of information technology (IT) in India. Five other coaches provide a curtain raiser for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The contribution of Indian Railways to the sports and a list of railway sportspersons who have won Arjuna awards, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awards, Dronacharya award, Padmashree and Dhyanchand awards have been displayed in a separate coach in the train.
