GSEB Examination Results 2009 will be publishing. The Result of the 12th Science and GUJCET Examination conducted by the GSEB (Gujarat State Education Board) will be declared on Thursday 28th May 2009.

On that day GSEB 12th Science and GUJCET exam results will be declared at 10:00 am onwards. The result of the Gujarat 12th science and GUJCET examinations will be available in internet at the Board website and other websites also.

Petroleum University’s first convocation today!

The first convocation of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University will  be held on Wednesday at its Raisan near Gandhinagar on Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Highway Knowledge Corridor.

Former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will be the chief guest while Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be the guest of honour on the occasion. The varsity’s board of governor and chairman Mukesh Ambani will also grace the function.

While 120 students will be awarded petroleum management degree, six students will be given medal for their scholastic performance’ in various programmes.

The petroleum university has three schools — School of Petroleum Management, School of Petroleum Technology and School of Solar Energy and offers BTech, MTech, MBA, PhD and Management Programmes for working executives of petroleum sector.

In addition to the regular educational programmes, the university has also taken up initiatives for establishing a Centre for Good Governance & Policy and Centre for Energy & Fuel Studies.

Hyundai may set up plant in Gujarat

Auto major Hyundai has said the company does not rule out the possibility of setting up a manufacturing facility in Gujarat in the
future. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) managing director H S Lheem said here on Tuesday that the company was invited by the Gujarat government to set up a manufacturing facility in the state.

“We don’t have any immediate plans. But, we will surely consider Gujarat whenever we have a future plan in place,” said Lheem, who was impressed by the state’s support to Tata Motor’s Nano project. He was in the city to inaugurate a new dealership Aldiam Hyundai’ in Makarpura.

Education Campus Changa to get university status

Education Campus Changa (ECC) is all set to get private university status from the state government. The educational campus managed by
Shri Charotar Moti Sattavis Patidar Kelavani Mandal, which so far offers programmes in technical professions, has also chalked out a Rs 250-crore plan to enter into healthcare education and delivery system this year.

According to sources, ECC which has been waiting to become Charotar University of Science & Technology (CHARUSAT) since its inception in 2000, is set to get state government’s nod during the monsoon session of state Assembly that ends in July. More »

Popularity of BBA, BCA courses takes a beating in vadodara!

The courses that used to rake in moolah for MS University seem to be losing their popularity among youngsters. MSU’s Bachelors of Computer Application (BCA) programme which was seen as one of the most sought-after courses along with Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) programme has seen a drastic dip in number of aspirants this year.

On Sunday, only 1,223 students took the entrance test compared to last year when close to 2,000 aspirants competed for 120 seats. Similar trend was witnessed during BBA programme’s entrance test at Faculty of Commerce this year. In BBA this year, only 1,409 applicants filed forms for the programme with only 1,303 appearing for the entrance test against last year when 1,580 students had appeared for it. BBA programme has seen a decline of applicants despite officials increasing the intake of students from 120 to 180 from this academic year.

874 schools in Gujarat await permission to start academic session

Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is yet to clear 874 applications for secondary and higher secondary private schools, whose academic sessions are scheduled to begin from June 8.

According to GSHSEB official sources, the applications are pending since September last year. “The board had received 523 applications for secondary, 201 for higher secondary (general stream) and 150 for science stream schools, which find themselves in the doldrums as they are yet to get permission to start functioning, while the academic session is in June,” said an official. Admission forms for BBA, BCA from May 29

Distribution of admission forms for Gujarat University-recognised 18 Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of
Computer Application (BCA) courses at various colleges will start from May 29. The last date of forms submission is June 3.

Forms for the five-year integrated course in MBA and MCA run by BK School of Business Administration and KS School of Computer Application
will be available from May 29. This was decided in a meeting of directors of BBA and BCA colleges held on Friday.

167 students from Gujarat make it to IIT-GEE!

Till a few years ago, making it to IIT was a distant dream for students from Gujarat. However, this has changed, increasing awareness of competitive exams have enabled many students to crack IIT-JEE.

This year a record number of 167 students made it to the merit list of IIT-JEE, while another 175 students are in the extended merit list. Of the 7,268 students who appeared for the examination over 4 per cent have made it to the merit list as well as the extended merit list. This figure was better than past performances. Last year about 100 students cleared their examination.
