US university to offer management degree in Ahmedabad!
Now management students of Gujarat need not to go to US universities for an expensive MBA degree, as a reputed US university has come to Ahmedabad, say trustees of Areez Khambhata Benevolent Trust (AKBT). The trust has entered into an agreement with the University of North Texas (UNT) to launch a full-time MBA course at the Khambhata Centre of Excellence.
Piruz Khambhata, trustee of AKBT, said “IIMA alumni Dr Audhesh Paswan will be the academic director. The students joining this programme will have the advantage of getting a US degree in their own country and also an opportunity to complete their final semester at the UNT campus in the US. Degrees conferred by UNT have global recognition.”
However, trustees did not reveal the fee structure for the course. To get admission, the students will have to follow the same procedure as their US counterparts, that is, appear for GMAT exam, write an essay and bring recommendations.
Like7 IPL matches in Ahmedabad!
Not two, not four, Ahmedabad has got seven Indian Premier league (IPL) matches. Ahmedabad Mirror was the first to report about the city hosting four or more IPL matches (Amdavad may get four IPL matches, March 10).
On Tuesday, the IPL organising committee sent an e-mail to the Gujarat Cricket Assocation (GCA), inviting them to host seven matches, mostly involving Rajasthan Royals, under whose catchment area comes Ahmedabad.
The IPL matches in the city will take place on April 11, April 13, April 17, May 6, May 9, May 10 and May 13.
This “miracle,” as GCA president Narhari Amin put it, came about after the Rajasthan government expressed its reluctance to provide security for the IPL ties because of Lok Sabha elections.
New Delhi, Jaipur and Visakhapatanam have been dropped as venues in the latest revised schedule for the second edition of the Indian Premier League which is still awaiting the green signal from the Home Ministry.
Gujarat has no problems hosting the matches as elections in the state will take place on April 30.
Said Amin, who was in Delhi on Tuesday, “I had a lengthy meeting with Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. He told me that the IPL coming to Gujarat was a wonderful thing and has personally assured me complete security. We are ready for the seven matches offered to Ahmedabad.”
The GCA officials said Ahmedabad will not just be hosting matches involving Rajasthan Royals. “The governments of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have expressed deep reservations over IPL. There are good chances of Bangalore Royal Challengers and Chennai Super Kings shifting some of their matches here,” said a GCA official.
